Color Glazing
How can information be shared artistically?Information can be shared artistically through the use of color, shape, and style. The use of color in a painting can create the feelings of emotion or evoke a certain feeling within someone when they look at it. The colors can help to add to the overall feel of the painting which is important when sharing a story. Shape can also help to share information because the type of shape can change the overall message of the painting. If there are soft edges, the painting is more likely to have a sad or more passionate feel around it, whereas a painting with a lot of harder looking edges can make the feel become more angry or aggressive. The style of art is also a major key in portraying information to someone. The style shows a part of the artist and who they are, which then can help show the viewers what they are trying to say. The artist might be feeling a certain why and that can be put into a style on canvas, later to be discovered by a viewer.
All art pieces have a story. Those stories were started in the initial creation of the piece. Artists use a combination of colors to create a powerful color scheme which can evoke emotions. These can expand upon previous ideas to make them even better and bigger than ever, they can use this process to even expand upon the depth of work that is the art piece. Artists use expanding by painting multiple layers onto the canvas, that way when the light hits it, the layers will combine and refract to create a beautiful, layered, art piece.
All artists have problems when approaching how to create a work of art. Sometimes its not knowing how to start, or even what colors to use. The skills they use to conquer these problems are vast, but some of them are quite simple. Adaptive thinking is good because it helps you to find a new way to approach the painting. Another good problem solving skill is to simply troubleshoot. If something doesn't workout you can simply try something out or try to find out how to fix it. Overall the ability to change and adapt is the best skill to have, not just in painting, but in life as well.

- Musical Lyrics
In order for me to express a song through visual imagery, that meant to listen to the song for what the lyrics were and transfer them into an object. It also meant to use colors to show the feel of the song, that's why I decided to use calm colors such as blue and green because that was the overall feel of the song, calm and cool. I also painted a couple hugging because the song is about two people in love. In order to create my finished painting, I used multiple layers building off of the last one. I started with painting a basic wash of blues and greens, darker at the top and gradually fading toward to white. After I let that dry, I wrote some lyrics from my song. I went back and painted another wash on top, hoping to hide some of the lyrics. I thought it looked pretty well, but I wanted to lighten it up so I decided to use only water to remove some paint. However, that didn’t go as planned and drips from my water wash ended washing away the paint underneath and carrying it down the canvas. After I let all of this dry, I went back and painted my ‘objects’ in dark black to create emphasis on these. In the beginning, I was actually planning to paint Seattle, as that reminded me of where I was from, however after painting a wash for that, I realized that wasn’t what I was passionate about so decided to paint over that and start again. My new painting started off pretty well, I went from a basic mono-color wash to adding more and more similar colors. Close to the end, my painting went from good to great when the drips from a water wash ended up creating a rain effect that I really enjoyed and could work into my mental image. To represent my emotions I used cool colors such as blue because I was feeling calm and collected when listening to the song. The two silhouettes hugging in the rain represent the love and connection. I hope that when someone else looks at this, they feel the love and compassion.
